(2022)

Inspired by shades, curves, and lines produced by Edward Weston, this project evolves into an exploration of forms. Sticking to low-tech, I used a pinhole camera and a kaleidoscope to deconstruct familiar objects into abstract. In the images, identifiable faces and body parts are split, flipped, rotated, and repeated. Like a dream’s distorted images, they are identifiable and alien at the same time. This ambiguity may trigger viewers’ innate urge to discern familiar shapes, inviting them to solve visual puzzles.
